HUDSON PARK

Public BBQ

Hudson Park sits quietly in Girrawheen, the sort of unassuming neighbourhood gem that proves Perth's suburbs know a thing or two about getting the basics right. The BBQ area anchors a sensibly planned setup - undercover picnic tables that acknowledge Western Australia's occasionally temperamental weather, and a playground that keeps the little ones occupied while parents tackle the serious business of cooking snags. What elevates this place beyond the ordinary is its thoughtful layout. Tennis courts sit conveniently next door, turning a simple barbecue outing into something approaching a proper family day out. There's something rather civilised about the whole arrangement - cook lunch, let the kids burn off energy, perhaps work up an appetite for seconds with a quick set of tennis. Parking proves refreshingly straightforward, which in suburban Perth counts as a minor miracle worth celebrating.
